Big Brother is watching you. The next level in anti-gun legislature.
U.S. Representative Bobby Rush (D-Ill.), who went AWOL from his Army Unit to help form the Black Panther Party in Illinois in 1968, was discharged from service and served six months in prison for illegal firearms possesion in 1969, recently sponsored H.R. 45, also known as "Blair Holt's Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act." The bill is, at its core and as its name implies, a licensing and registration scheme.
The measure calls for all handgun owners to submit to the federal government an application that shall include, among many other things: a photo; an address; a thumbprint; a completed, written firearm safety test; private mental health records; and a fee. And those are only some of the requirements to be licensed!
The bill would further require the attorney general to establish a database of every handgun sale, transfer, and owner's address in America. Moreover, the bill would make it illegal to own or possess a "qualifying firearm" -- defined as "any handgun; or any semiautomatic firearm that can accept any detachable ammunition feeding device…" [emphasis added] without one of the proposed licenses.
Additionally, the bill would make it illegal to transfer ownership of a "qualifying firearm" to anyone who is not a licensed gun dealer or collector (with very few exceptions), and would require "qualifying firearm" owners to report all transfers to the attorney general's database. It would also be illegal for a licensed gun owner to fail to record a gun loss or theft within 72 hours, or fail to report a change of address within 60 days. Further, if a minor obtains a firearm and injures someone with it, the owner of the firearm may face a multiple-year jail sentence.
H.R. 45 is essentially a reintroduction of H.R. 2666, which Rush introduced in 2007. H.R. 2666 contained much of the same language as H.R. 45, and was co-sponsored by several well-known anti-gun legislators--including Barack Obama's chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel. H.R. 45 currently has no co-sponsors.

This is no joke people. This nut ball gets this pushed through as law and all gun owners are screwed. We will have more civil rights violations than the patriot act. Join the NRA to ensure we have a fighting chance.
yea this is only one of many of the new administrations efforts to take away our second ammendment right. it is absolutly insane. we need to enforce our gun laws that are already on the books and stop letting these 2-3 time offenders out on the streets to commit even more crimes. ill keep my guns, money and freedom! You can keep the Change!
I agree totally with you regarding the 2 and 3 time offenders. This country needs to stop catering to the criminal and needs to start to look out for the law abiding citizen. Why should some scumbag that killed, raped, robbed or otherwise, ever see the light of day again. Instead, our government allows them more legal rights and representation than the folks on the outside of the bars. They need to control straw buyers and criminals and let the law abiding guy with a bushmaster have fun at the range. IT's like they think someone with a bayonet lug, a flash supressor and a 20 round magazine is going to rob a 7-11. Do you think that a would be criminal gives a damn about high capacity magazines and bayonets? NOOOOOOOO!!!!!! In and out, portability and DISPOSABLE!!!! This is from the straw buyers that flood the criminal market with illegal weapons. Remember people, You outlaw guns and only outlaws will have guns. It's a fact.
